Why is it so shameful to be motivated by money? Why, when, in fact, our livelihoods really do revolve on making and living off money?

I struggled with my relationship with money — and still do, honestly — for so long.

A quick back story if you haven’t read anything else of mine: I was a freelance opera singer turned corporate. In January of 2020 I switched careers from opera to finance after suffering through some pretty crippling anxiety and depression.

I was having panic attacks during audition season that I never had before. My anxiety was through the roof. My depression was out of hand — my family recognized I was depressed before I even knew it.

It was during the fall of 2019 when I really wanted to make a change after a pretty lonely and expensive audition season. So I did, and joined a pretty stellar company that has given me the stability I never knew I needed.

So, what does this have to do with being motivated by money?

I have a muggle day job, write, sing, and do voiceover by night, along with all the other projects happening in my life. Cat mom. She/her.
