Relationships During a Pandemic

A lot of things came to light for me and my partner

My partner and I will have been together for five years in August. Half a decade…

And to think, almost 2 of those 5 years were spent holed up in a 1,000 sqft. house with two cats.

To say we learned a lot about each other, and ourselves, is an understatement.

Before the US went on lockdown in March of 2020, I was already in the middle of transitioning careers — going from a freelance music career to getting a pretty sweet 8–5 finance job — so I…

It affects more than you know.

In the beginning…

So, you’ve met your partner and they are eccentric, outgoing, unabashedly social, full of energy, and passionate. These might be some of the things you were lacking in your last relationship.

And now this amazing person has come along and lights you up when they walk into the room. They shower you with affection and their energy is so infectious it makes you want to scream.

Then you start living together. After a few months — or even years — you start noticing their little quirks that never bothered you before. Things that seemed so innocent and absent-minded eventually become…

And I’m no doctor, nurse, or even work in the medical field in any sense…

It was the summer of 2013 and I had just moved home from college. I didn’t have a job lined up and my days consisted of watching Beverly Hills 90210.

My mother works at the Atlanta airport and likes to befriend Russian-speaking passengers — we speak Russian at home and my mom loves to help out fellow Russian-speaking people that make their way through Atlanta.

I’m on my laptop, browsing Facebook, when my mother walks in.

“Liya, I might need your help today.”

“Okay, what’s up?” I reply back, still aimlessly scrolling through Facebook.

“Well, I met this woman and…

An essay on the woman I used to be and still am

Watching these Indie films at the ripe old age of 29 has me feeling all sorts of ways about my life. Maybe that’s the point of them.

I have the same intense emotions watching these high school hipsters fall in love as when I was a teeny-bopper, figuring out how I felt, how intense dopamine was — and still is.

It’s a sort of anticipated anxiety. Awaited anxiety. A yearning to feel the heartache. The same heartache that encompassed everyday life in high school. The same foggy, hazy, blissful state you're in as you walk down the hallway and pass…

Entrepreneur Life

They’re both really difficult

Being a musician myself, I feel like I have a bit of insight into this world.

My partner is a full-time musician and, in my opinion, the epitome of an entrepreneur.

People always say how difficult it is to be a musician. They also say how hard it is to start a business.

Being a musician that makes money is essentially having your own business. If you’re serious about it, you eventually get an LLC and try to make your income off your passion.

Now, isn’t that exactly what entrepreneurs do? …

Relationship advice

You’ve been dating your partner for a while and you’re wondering, Is this how it’s supposed to be?

It takes a lot of trial and error to find the right person. And even after a little while, that right person might not be the right person.

It can be evident after a week if the relationship is a healthy and mature one.

Sometimes, it takes months, if not years…

If you’ve been wondering if you’re in a mature and healthy relationship, keep reading.

There are some telltale signs that you and you’re partner are doing just fine.

And where I’m at now

How it all started

I graduated undergrad in 2013. I moved straight home and was super unhappy with how I looked post-college.

Did I really think all the drinking, partying, and late night snacking weren’t going to catch up with me?

Needless to say, the image I saw in the mirror didn’t sit well with me.

I’m 30 now and have realized how fucked up Western society is when it comes to body image. How I was feeling wasn’t because I gained weight. …

Increasing Productivity

I wish I had done this years earlier.

Over this pandemic, I needed a boost to how I got stuff done — at work and at home.

If you’re anything like me, then having a clean workspace, a cup of coffee, and a comfy sweater make a world of a difference when it comes to productivity.

However, what happens when that no longer works? What happens when you’re stuck and can’t seem to get that productivity bug back?

Well, I’ve talked about the effectiveness of time-blocking with so many people, but never really tried it out for myself.

What is time blocking?

Well, to put it simply, it’s when you block out…

Review of the Monk Manual planner

If you are looking to get your life organized, keep reading…

In my latest post, I dive into the nitty-gritty of the Monk Manual 90-day Planner — the good, the bad, and the ugly. Okay, it’s definitely not an ugly planner as you can tell. It’s pretty darn nice to look at…

This isn’t a sponsored post at all. I have been using this since the beginning of February 2021 and wanted to share my experience so far.

If you’re trying to get your life organized and find some kind of routine during this pandemic/lockdown, but don’t want to commit to a full year-long planner, this planner might be the one for you.

First off, it’s very straightforward to use. Secondly, it’s aesthetically pleasing.

Read my entire opinion here!

Happy reading, my friend!

It’s not okay to say this — but it should be.

Because I want to look f*****g good, that’s why.

And that’s the honest truth. I cringe thinking about my reason behind wanting to get fit, but damn, I can’t deny there’s something empowering about feeling like hot shit in a killer outfit. The more I say it out loud the more comfortable I feel knowing that I really do want to look good. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Truly.

But in today’s western world it’s not okay to want to lose some fat to achieve a certain aesthetic. We have to be accepting of our bodies as they are. There is truth and merit in being kind to…
